What are Verified Views?

Verified Views, also called Visually Verified Montage (VVM) and Accurate Visual Representation (AVR), are design visualisations of future schemes based on a combination of survey data, photography, 3D modelling, and computer generated images (CGI). In essence, they represent development proposals as realistic objects, relying on real-world perspectives, locations, and data to create physically-quantifiable objects within development site proposals.

While photomontages play a similar role in architecture, VVMs take it a step further by integrating various elements of modern digital and surveyor technology to present genuinely-accurate visual representations based on all available dimensional data. Sometimes called a Verified Photomontage, VVMs adopt similar techniques of photography integration into designs, however, while a photomontage is based on an imagined perspective, a VVM is a verifiable image based on highly-technical visualisations.

Verified Views play a major role in modern architecture and give designers and developers far greater planning insight and marketing potential than previously possible.

Verified View Classifications

Verified views planning involves 4 different classification options that determine the amount of detail present in the image, from AVR Level 0 with the least amount of detail, to AVR Level 3 with the highest amount of detail. Classifications are based on a cumulative scale where each additional level incorporates the details of the preceding level and adds its own visual elements to the image.

Each classification offers unique benefits at respective points in the design stages and allows architects and developers to test various mapping features against real-world data. By AVR Level 3, images will have materials, textures, colour, and even real-world lighting based on site surveys and digitally-mapped photography.

Level 0

Models describing the location and size of the proposal.

Level 1

Location, size, and degree of visibility of proposal with occlusion.

Level 2

All level 1 features with the addition of description of architectural form and lighting.

Level 3

All level 2 features with the addition of materials.

What are the Benefits of Using Verified Views?

Verified views and their inclusive features such as verified photography, 3D models, and CGIs result in design assets that bring a development to life with accurate representation. In modern architecture, VVMs play an invaluable role in development proposals as they allow for genuine analysis of an object’s impact on surrounding areas and what they are expected to look like in their final form.

As VVMs are based on survey data and accurate photography and methodology, they may be referenced in Environmental Impact Assessments, public inquiries, and development and planning committees to ensure a clear understanding of development plans and an agreement of the project’s visible features. These modern and professional design elements assist in effective communication between developer and the public and can lead to a greater level of trust and impact mitigation potential.

Our Verified Views Process & Methodology

At rbmp, our verified views process and methodology achieves highly-accurate visualisations of future development with the goal of aiding architects, developers, and communities in the successful planning and execution of proposals. We follow strict guidelines to ensure rigorously-tested accuracy and rely on advanced measurement techniques and technology to produce quantifiable results.

Our process and methodology includes:

Site Photography

We perform high-resolution photography based on pre-determined viewpoints and parameters such as geography, elevation, sensors, headings, and other attributes that will be factored into surveyor data.

Site Survey

We conduct a site survey to make a record of location views, camera positions, and reference points to validate the accuracy of the photographs.

3D Modelling

We utilise proposal data, drawings, and models to generate a 3D model of the development.

Virtual Cameras

Using our collected survey data and camera location references, we are able to create virtual cameras surrounding the 3D model.

Rendering

We render real-world photography with the virtual camera positions using surveyor data to achieve verified photography with lighting effects and positional accuracy within a 3D model.

Post Production

Enhancements are applied to achieve realistic scale and appearance.

Documentation & Delivery

All data of before-and-after, camera locations, lenses, surveyor data, and our step-by-step process is documented and delivered with a final draft pending feedback and approval.

Verified Views Examples

As you can see from the verified view examples below, images progress through a cumulative addition of data, photographs and viewpoints to create a realistic scheme of the proposed development.
