Verified views created for a proposed landmark 26-storey residential building located in Croydon, UK.
Rbmp were commissioned to provide 12 verified views from different locations around Croydon to support the planning application for a new landmark 26-storey residential building located on Wellesley Road in the heart of Croydon’s tall buildings district. The new building, which gained planning consent in July 2018, will replace the current Cambridge House building, a four-storey office block which will be demolished to make way for the new building.
Within the immediate vicinity of the site there are a number of tall building developments including Westfield Croydon and a 55-storey residential tower. The proposal provides for 92 new homes in a variety of one, two and three bedroom flats, and a winter garden at ground level.
The housing provider, Notting Hill Genesis estimates that the new building will be complete by 2020 and will be comprised of 100% affordable apartments. The scheme has a white brick frame providing the primary element of its façade. This extends above the parapet level to form a projecting crown to the building. Grey brick panels of varying shades will sit within the frame, adding texture, while white reconstituted stone columns at ground level present pedestrians with “a tactile experience of high-quality materials”.
A fully rendered model of the building was developed for the client from the architect’s drawings and accurately sited into the photos with the aid of surveyed reference points. rbmp also undertook a visual appraisal of the site with regards to historic receptors around the town, including the Grade I listed Hospital of the Holy Trinity Almshouses dating from 1599.
In addition to the 26-storey residential building as outlined above rbmp worked on the 44 storey Essex House site, also situated in Croydon, providing supporting AVR3 photorealistic verified views.
